Earth Day Festival

Saturday, April 20 - 8:30 AM


The City of Berea will observe Earth Day on Saturday, April 20 with the help of Baldwin Wallace University and Sustainable Berea - a local environmental group.

The Earth Day Festival at Coe Lake will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a bird walk around Coe Lake led by the Western Reserve Audubon Society. Meet at the gazebo.

Other activities will be:

9:30-11 a.m.: Coe Lake Cleanup. Volunteers should bring with them buckets, gloves and trash grabbers.  Kayakers will focus on the lake. Other volunteers will work the shoreline. Check in at the gazebo.

11-11:45 a.m.: BW Ecology Professor Emeritus Michael Melamphy will lead a nature walk. Plus, a Berea Branch librarian will read an environmental book to children and the kids can also do rock painting. Meet in the gazebol.

11 a.m. - 1 p.m.: BW students will provide musical entertainment in the Pavilion. Also, 14 local environmental groups will staff displays in the Pavilion.

Noon: U.R. Awesome, a Bubbleologist, will perform.

6 p.m.: A film, "The Erie Situation," will be shown in Marting Hall, 50 Seminary St.

All events are free.
