Four Chaplains Day

Thursday, February 3 - 11:00 AM

Four Chaplains Day commemorates four Army chaplains who gave their lives to save soldiers when their troop ship was torpedoed in the North Atlantic during World War II.

Berea's Veterans Outreach Office will conduct a brief service honoring the Four Chaplains at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3 in the Active Senior Room of the Berea Recreation Center, 451 Front St. Local clergy will represent the Four Chaplains - one Catholic, two Protestant and one Jewish - who gave their life jackets to four soldiers, then linked arms and prayed as the ship went down.

Veterans and their families are especially invited to attend but the ceremony is open to the public. No reservations are necessary.
