Greene Acres Community Garden in Broadview Heights will be raffling off three prize packages courtesy of generous donations from Lowes and Home Depot.
· 1st Prize includes a workhorse of a wheelbarrow loaded with tools and garden supplies, valued at $600.
· 2nd Prize is a 26″ outdoor fire pit plus wood bundles, valued at $100.
· 3rd Prize is a charcoal bullet smoker plus charcoal and wood chips, valued at $100.
“This raffle has something for everyone who loves getting their hands in the dirt or enjoys the backyard,” says Greene Acres President Twila Goshorn. “From containers and cultivators to starter soil and a spade, the loaded wheelbarrow has the tools you need to make your flower and vegetable beds thrive. Add the fire pit and smoker packages, and these three prizes include an expansive array of items.”
Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and will be on sale through May 22. The drawing will be held June 1 at noon at the garden, 3800 Towpath Rd. in Broadview Heights. Winners need not be present. In addition to supporting ongoing maintenance and supplies, proceeds from the raffle will help fund the garden’s large and sorely needed plot rebuilding project .
Launched in 2013, Greene Acres Community Garden is an organic operation that includes more than 90 plots and 70 gardening members. In addition, the 14,400 sq. ft. green space features an education plot, rain barrel, composting bins, and standing plots for members with limited mobility.
